I decided to repaint the bonnet. Every time I looked at the bonnet, I felt bad for such a beauty and for the person behind the wheel, which is me.

Bad news to my wallet
Over the phone, I got a quote of EURO 15o for repainting the bonnet from a car painting specialist that was recommended by a 156 owner having his car served there not long ago. Booked a time and drove down to the workshop for final quote, the guy greeted me is nice but not the piece of news. After he inspected the paint condition with a staff who should be the technician doing the actual work, I guess, he told me that the paint condition is too bad to merely overlaying a new layer of paint, therefore, he suggested removing the existing paint entirely before repainting the bonnet and that costed 1oo Euro more😵.
Taking a bold move
Ok, it is fine as long as the result is good. For a painting workshop that to work with for the 1st time, there is the risk to take. I took a bold attempt to asked if I could get some discount for repainting the front fenders too. Good news is direct overlaying would do the job for the fender. With a total of 400 Euro, I would have the reborn bonnet and front fenders.
Good job done with a mixed result
After a week, here it is – glossy image reflection on the bonnet and no rust dot on the fenders. Beautiful, isn’t it?😘

I am happy with the outcome. Since then it has been a joy by looking at it from the front; quite often I go to the car park merely to have a look at it for a few seconds, doing this always puts a smile on my face. Bad thing is the more I look at it, I started to regret not having the front bumper repainted too🙂
