Replacing the fog light bulb

Told by a friend that the left fog light was gone.  With the experience of replacing the dip light bulb,  I thought it should be a piece of cake to replace it.  It costed me USD 2 to get a new bulb. Not bad for an Alfa 156, at least it a popular type of bulbs.

It is easy to get the fog light lamp unit out from the bumper but the real challenge is to get the bulb detached from the socket.

It is so tight that I just couldn’t get it out with bare hands.  Having tried 10 mins with a lot of sweat, I gave up. Returned with 2 pincers, I managed to get it out.

Second challenge was to install the new bulb, it supposes to be “plug and play” but it isn’t.  No matter how hard I try, the new bulb just didn’t fit the holder.  Comparing with the old bulb, I found that the diameter of the new bulb basal was slightly bigger, we are talking about a less than 1mm difference.  Again, I had to use the pincer to make it fit.

A simple job eventually took me an hour, 3 visits to got it done😅

  1. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.

  2. Nice read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “Never let inexperience get in the way of ambition.” by Terry Josephson.
