The Joyful Journey with My Alfa Romeo 156

The Log of maintenance, modification and ownership

High fuel consumption of Alfa 156

High fuel consumption of my 156 has been puzzling me from day 1, the figure was about 100km/12.x liters or 22.6 mpg. It is high for a 2-liter engine here.

From a local Alfa fan club gathering, a friend suggested replacing the O2 sensors when we had talked about the fuel consumption issue.  I remembered that some discussions on car forums suggested something similar.

Alfa 156 side light bulbs change

The lamp warning light is on after I switched on the side light in the tunnel.  It turned out that the left side light bulb is gone.  “Should be a small problem” I thought.  Checked the owner manual for the bulb’s model. I went to buy the replacement and the challenge has just begun.

Steering rod gaitor replacement

The right steering rod gaitor was found broken when I toke off the broken engine guard the week before last week, this Saturday I book an early time slot with the mechanic to fix it.  Woo…..it was really decomposing.    The mechanic said the left hand side is fine, I just decided to replace both on the left and right.
