While the mechanic was replacing intake manifold, he asked if I want to replace coolant hoses of the engine cooling system. He said that it was easier to do so with the leaking manifold taken off. Why not, I don’t want how long the existing hoses have served the car, likely from the day 1. Therefore, I gave him the green light. At the time, I knew the new hose is the silicone ones but didn’t pay much attention to what exactly it is.
Finally, what a surprise when I saw it!
Be frank, I would have prefered black to blue if I had had choices. Anyway, blue is really eye catching, so I don’t mind and still feel excited.
Googled a bit, oh, SAMCO is a famous British brand. Additional research revealed that many Alfisti in Taiwan use silicone coolant hoses that are tailor-made by local factories. Recently I also found similar products produced locally in Hong Kong. So likely you may find your local suppliers without much difficulty.
Advantages of using Silicone coolant hoses(From what I heard):
- More durable – only time will tell but I hope so
- Heart isolation –> coolant entering the engine -> fewer chances of overheat. I’ve doubt but no harm, I hope so again
