One of the speedometer light bulbs has gone, hence the LCD mileage panel could not be seen.

Alfa 156 Speedometer with a burnt bulb

Taking the shroud off by removing one screw reveals two more screws that secure the speedometer. With all screws removed, turning the speedometer unit clockwise a bit can get it out easily.

Unplugging the 2 cables can set it free.

Replace the burnt bulb and it is back.

Normal Alfa 156 speedometer brightness

However, I immediately found the brightness is different between the speedometer and odometer

Dark Alfa 156 odometer

Following the same procedure, I changed the bulbs of the odometer too. By doing so, I found that the bulb near the top end of the REV mark has already gone indeed. I thought it had gone before I bought the car. Unlike the LCD panel on the speedometer, without the pre and the post comparison, I thought the relative darkness was normal and I was not aware of the burnt out bulb.

Wow, much nice to look at the REV red line now.

Removing stains on the instrument cluster cover

When I was fixing the speedometer and Rev back light, I tried to remove the stain found on the cover surface too.

I used the polish liquid for mobile phone screen.  After testing it with stain at the edge, it seemed working.
