As mentioned before, the Sportpack II of Alfa 156 interior design is one of the main attractions to me. However, I always wanted to upgrade some components of the Alfa 156 interior to make it even more sporty. The targeted objects are the gear lever boot and the handbrake cover.
Some local alfistis recommended 2 good sources in Japan for Alfa Romeo accessories and parts. They both offer very rich choices of accessories for Italian car brands.
Having spent hours of browsing through their catalog, I locked on the items I wanted and decided to do shopping in Tokyo when I went there soon.
Installation
After the Tokyo trip, I immediately installed the items. The first thing I discovered is the broken hook on the boot lever base frame:(
And then the base of the boot is too small to be fitted with the hooks on the frame. Luckily, it still holds without using the hooks.
The handbrake boot is fine, the only modification I made was to cut the perforation wider to fit the hook.
End results
The red stitching does match the original Alfa 156 interior design and lift the sportiness of the cabin atmosphere.
What’s next?…..may be the gear knob and the steering wheel. I also think that the red stitching on the car mat is a bit too much.
Hints of the 2 shops in Tokyo
I visited Italia Zakka store in Tokyo in 2020 again, it moved to a new location and is rather small now, buying from them online is preferred. Flatout is still the place worthy visiting if you are in Tokyo and interesting in good accessories for Italian car brands.
