Repainting the Alfa 156 front bumper

Since I had the Alfa 156, I had parked it in a roof-less car park. With the rent went up, the price difference for an indoor shelter became justifiable. However, the Novitec front spoiler didn’t provide enough clearance to let the car get in and out of the multi-storey car park without scratching the spoiler. I decided to remove the front spoiler. Then I found the front bumper’s paint is really in bad condition.

Replacing the Alfa 156 badge on front grille

When I bought the car, the Alfa 156 badge on the front grille had shown its age.  The red colour has gone and turned into silver.

Repainting the bonnet and front fenders

I decided to repaint the bonnet. Every time I looked at the bonnet, I felt bad for such a beauty and for the person behind the wheel, which is me.

Bad news to my wallet

Over the phone, I got a quote of EURO 15o for repainting the bonnet from a car painting specialist that was recommended by a 156 owner having his car served there not long ago.   Booked a time and drove down to the workshop for final quote, the guy greeted me is nice but not the piece of news. After he inspected the paint condition with a staff who should be the technician doing the actual work, I guess, he told me that the paint condition is too bad to merely overlaying a new layer of paint, therefore, he suggested removing the existing paint entirely before repainting the bonnet and that costed 1oo Euro more😵.
