Timing belt replacement

Time flies. It has been 5 years since the last timing belt change. Gauged by the mileage, it is far below the factory recommended life span. However, I wanted to play safe and don’t want to suffer from the consequence of timing belt break down, I just went ahead to change it.

It is common to replace the water pump and idler at the time of replacing the timing belt. I found 2 versions of water pumps when I looked for the replacement parts. One is the impeller made with metal, another’s is made with plastic. I assumed that metal impeller might last longer, so I chose the metal version. However, I’d change it to the plastic version next time after I read more opinions from Internet. Most opinions suggest the life span of water pump is determined by the shaft bearing and the bearing has no difference between the 2 versions. And the metal impeller could cause serious engine block damage if the bearing shaft fails.

Rear anti-roll bar link rod replacement

After replacing the trail arm bushings, the noise from the rear suspension greatly reduced, albeit there is still some noise. With the link rods replaced, the rear suspension is quiet again.

The rear link rod is made of plastic while the front link rod is made of metal. It reflects the less loading that the rear suspension needs to handle.
